Novell Identity Manager 3 Fundamentals
(Course 3065)
Course Overview
This instructor-led course is designed to help students learn the basic concepts of Novell Identity Manager 3 as they install and use the product with few configuration changes. Students will become familiar with the purpose and components of Identity Manager and learn to perform basic configuration tasks in a lab environment. Students will work with a Novell Open Enterprise Server (both on the NetWare and Linux platforms) and a Windows server to synchronize data and passwords between Novell eDirectory and Microsoft Active Directory.
Audience
The Novell Identity Manager 3 Fundamentals is an introductory course for Identity Manager. Although students should be familiar with eDirectory and related tools (such as iManager), no Identity Manager experience is required. This course is ideal for those who are system administrators, integrators, engineers, Networking consultants, Reseller support staff or new Identity Manager customers who have been tasked with administering or implementing Identity Manager 3. Students attending this course should have some basic knowledge of SUSE Linux, or another Linux distribution. Students who need to manage Identity Manger 3 running on a Linux platform in a production environment need to have CLP certification equivalent knowledge of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9. For students with little or no eDirectory experience, a quick overview of eDirectory will be provided in the main text of the course manual.
Prerequisites
Students should have a basic understanding of the network and networking (as introduced in the CompTIA Network+ certification) and have knowledge of or experience with administering databases and a Directory (such as eDirectory or Active Directory).
